Conference Venue
The Conference will take place in The Mitchell Library, North Street, Glasgow G3 7DN, Scotland. Please enter through the Granville Street entrance. Phone: 0141 287 2999.
Getting to The Mitchell Library could not be easier as there will be coaches departing from, and returning to, the conference hotel on both days starting on Thursday 12 June at 0815 hours and returning at the end of the programme each day.

Social Events
All delegates attending the full two-day conference are invited to attend the Conference Dinner at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Glasgow. Coaches will depart the Conference hotel at 0715 for the short trip to one of Glasgow’s finest historical buildings and art collections. Dress code for this event is Informal/Team Blazers.
Official Invitation
An official letter of invitation for delegatres, who require this service in order to obtain a visa to attend the 2nd Commonwealth Sports evelopment Conference, will be sent once the full conference registration fee has been received. Only after this fee has been received will the invitation letter be sent to the delegate. Obtaining the visa will be the responsibility of the delegate.
Travel to Glasgow
Arriving by Air
Glasgow can be easily accessed by air. Glasgow International Airport is located just eight miles (13k) west of Glasgow City Centre and combined with Glasgow Prestwick and Edinburgh airports (each less than one hour away) services direct flights from 119 European cities.
There will be welcome desks to assist Conference delegates located in Glasgow International Airport next to baggage reclaim in UK Arrivals and near the exit form International Arrivals.
By Road and Rail
Glasgow is also connected with all major cities in the UK by an extensive road and rail network. Within Glasgow there are efficient above and below ground public transportation systems. A station with a 15-30 minute frequency of trains is located near to the Conference hotels, allowing delegates easy access to and from the City Centre.
Banks and Currency Exchange
The United Kingdom's currency is Pounds Sterling. Credit cards are widely accepted in restaurants and shops. Traveller’s cheques are also accepted for purchasing goods and can be cashed at banks, post offices and hotels.
Insurance
The organisers cannot accept any responsibility for individual travel, medical or personal insurance. Delegates are strongly advised to have their own travel insurance policies.
VAT
You will have to pay UK VAT (17.5%) on most goods and services you purchase. Claims for repayment of VAT can be made by overseas businesses by requesting the appropriate forms from HM Cusoms & Excise, VAT Overseas Repayments Unit, Customs House, PO Box 34, Londonderry, BT48 7AE Northern Ireland www.hmce.gov.uk
