Refugee Week events in Glasgow Museums

This year, Refugee Week Scotland will be marked with its biggest ever national line-up of events, ranging from arts and culture to sporting events.

 

Glasgow Museums will be marking this important week with a programme of its own, at the People's Palace and the Gallery of Modern Art. Call or visit the venues to find out more.

Identity, Reflection and Perception

Library @ GoMA, Sunday 14 June, 12.30 - 4.30pm

Hillhead Library, Sunday 21&28 June, 12.30 - 4.30pm

 

Join Theatre Found for a series of thought-provoking workshops in devising a performance on the themes of identity, reflection and perception. The results will be filmed and performed on 28 June, and can be seen in Library @ GoMA after that.

 

A Life in Exile

Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), Thursday 18 June, 6pm

 

A discussion event exploring themes of homecoming, identity, and ideas of 'home'. The event will be based around recent GoMA purchase, Everything I Need by Matthew Buckingham. This video work looks at the life of author Charlotte Wolff, who was exiled from her home land Germany after fleeing the Nazis in 1933.

 

Pathway of Integration

People's Palace, 20 June - 15 August

Launch - 20 June, 2pm

 

 

This exhibition highlights work being done by Maryhill Integration Network (MiN) to build bridges between communities in that area, and to celebrate cultural diversity. Join us at the launch for a fashion show and performance by members of MiN.
