The Mitchell Redesigned for the 21st Century
Work on the development work at Granville Street is now complete. By removing interior walls, The Mitchell Theatre, Moir Hall and The Library have been integrated into an exciting public facility. This major development aims to improve customer facilities, access to the collections and service delivery.

Floor to ceiling windows have been installed at Kent Road to open up the building and create an interior 'streetscape'. The various elements of the 'new' and 'old' Mitchell are now linked via the two main entrances at North Street and Granville Street.

In future phases of the development, we also aim to develop an innovative and inspirational visitor attraction based on the 'treasures' held by The Mitchell. The story of Glasgow and its people will be told through our world-renowned collections making full use of new technology and innovative design.
