Book Groups

All you need to know about book groups in Glasgow Libraries

Book Groups

Book groups are fun whether you're the person who reads the cereal packet if there's nothing else, or have lost the reading habit and would like to kickstart it!

Meetings are free, relaxed and informal - most groups meet once a month and read two titles, although some groups have a slightly different format.  Multiple copies of the books are supplied by the library service.  Joining a book group is a great way to meet other readers and discover new authors.

There are:

  • afternoon groups
  • evening groups
  • a lunchtime group

 Groups read:

  • contemporary fiction
  • crime
  • family sagas
  • classics
  • poetry

There are even Chatterbooks groups for young people.

Our groups welcome new members.  Please contact us to confirm availability of places in a group - see the list below.  If a group is full, we're happy to suggest an alternative.

If you'd like to start up a book group yourself or are already involved in an existing group, we can supply multiple copies of books through our Books To Go for Book Groups service.
