How I used to look

I’ve been coming to Bellahouston Sports centre for about six years now. When I started out, I wanted to get in shape for my wedding day so I went swimming 3 times a week and began eating sensibly. I started to feel and look different and loved the results and the energy I had. This was the only incentive I needed to keep my new hobby up.


By 21st August 2004 - my wedding day - my dream came true as I got to wear my dream dress, which was a size 12 instead of the size 16 that I’d previously been.







Having lost weight and feeling more confident, a work colleague suggested I take part in the Women’s 10K in 2005. I laughed at the idea at first but then started running and loved it! I signed up for the Glasgow Club’s ‘Fitness Unlimited’ membership to help with my running and to do some training and ran the 10k with my friend, enjoying every moment of it!!!


I love swimming in the pool and use the gym regularly. The classes are also great - especially the circuits class which gives your body a great workout! My membership is more than worth the money and has made such a difference to my life. I feel transformed into a more confident and healthy person.


 

I have gone from someone who did very little exercise to going swimming, to the gym, to a class or running nearly every other day and to make things even better my husband also comes with me, so this is something we can enjoy together.


I know some people might feel embarrassed going swimming or to the gym cause they imagine it being full of people that look fantastic and they will be the odd one out. That’s how I felt at first, but it’s not long before you start to see and feel a difference in yourself that gives you all the confidence you need to keep going and believe it or not exercising actually gives you MORE energy.


Why not set yourself a realistic goal today? Believe me - if you want it enough you will succeed in getting it and the Glasgow Club is the best place to start!
