"I wanted to stay fit in winter and prepare for the women's 10k...so I joined"
Karen’s Story:
I took up jogging to prepare myself for the women's 10k, but the dark nights and winter weather stopped me getting out as often as I wanted to. Joining the Glasgow Club was the perfect solution
Initially I just wanted to maintain my fitness through the winter but since joining I’ve actually got fitter than ever before. I’ve kept up my jogging regime and am now attending several classes a week.
It’s great being able to use any of the centres as Nethercraigs and Bellahouston Leisure Centres are both convenient for me and it gives me a wider choice of class times etc.
I’ve found the instructors and the other members in all classes really friendly and this helps motivate me to go along and makes the classes more enjoyable.

"I wanted to beat the stress of 12-hour days and get an energy boost...so I joined"
Susie’s Story:
I run a busy publishing company and was going home after 12-hour working days feeling totally shattered. I was drained and lethargic and the prospect of going to work the next day was awful.
My intention was to boost my energy levels in a fun but challenging way so I set an ambitious but achievable goal of going from running for 3 minutes a day to at least 30 minutes a day - three or four times a week.
Since joining the Glasgow Club my mood is brighter and I’ve got loads more energy - plus there’s the added bonus of going from a size of 12 to a size 10. Result!

"I wanted a daily routine to help me overcome depression...so I joined"
Margaret’s Story:
Initially i joined the Glasgow Club to help overcome depression and to avoid putting on weight as the medication I was given increased my appetite. I’d often said to others that getting active can help manage mental health problems so this was a perfect opportunity to put it to the test.
Although it was an effort sometimes, it really was worth it. I began visiting the gym three times a week, which really was a big step towards a healthier daily routine. Routine can be difficult for someone suffering from depression but it really helped me feel healthier and I’m pleased to say its given be a much brighter outlook on my life.
