Hogganfield Park already receives many visitors, as it contains an award winning Local Nature Reserve (centred on Hogganfield Loch) and is classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Any development on this site will be expected to take cognisance of the special environmental significance of this site, and make provision for education of visitors to the site in the form of an educational visitor centre.
The development site is adjacent to the Park entrance at Cumbernauld Road and faces the Loch. Part of the site was formerly occupied by a boathouse and restaurant, and part is currently occupied the existing pavilion. There is also a putting area.
The existing pavilion offers golf starter accommodation, office accommodation, toilets, locker and changing accommodation and vending. The only other on site catering is a mobile snack bar.
