The main award of the evening has been won by some of Scotland’s biggest sporting stars over the years including Stephen Hendry, Liz McColgan, Sir Chris Hoy, Shirley Robertson and Andy Murray.
For 2009 the Sports Person of the Year award went to golfer Catriona Matthew, who clinched the Women's British Open title becoming the first Scot to win a major women's golf championship.
Other awards presented on the night included:
- Glasgow Disabled Athlete of the Year – Allan Stuart (Athletics)
- Service to Sport – Lifetime Achievement Award - Duncan Paterson Glasgow
- Team of the Year – Drumchapel Table Tennis Club Glasgow
- Young Sportsperson of the Year – Kirsty Gilmour (Badminton)
- Glasgow Club of the Year – Special Olympics Scotland West Evening Times
- Glasgow Sports School of the Year (Primary) – Garscadden Primary
- Evening Times Glasgow Sports School of the Year (Secondary) – Hillhead Secondary School
- Glasgow Student Athlete of the Year – Laura Bartlett (Hockey)
- Glasgow Coach of the Year – Kenny Murray (Rugby)
- Glasgow Volunteer of the Year – Maureen McNeill (Basketball)
- Leader’s Special Award – Shettleston Harriers (Athletics)
- Lord Provost’s Award – Abercorn Secondary School
- Sportsperson of the Year – Catriona Matthews (Golf)
