Archives and Special Collections       Archives and Special Collections brings together a wide variety of sources for the history of Glasgow and the surrounding area.   This department is the result of the amalgamation of Glasgow City Archives and the Glasgow Collection.
Our collections include:   Archives of the Clyde Navigation Trust Archives of the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society  Business Archives Church Archives  Family and Estate papers	The oldest document in Archives and Special Collections, a land grant given by Pope, dated 1188 (reference code: T-CL86/21)
Local Authority archives including Glasgow Corporation Archives Strathclyde Regional Archives Archives of County Councils – Bute, Dunbartonshire, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and part of Stirlingshire Archives of the Royal Burgh of Rutherglen Special Collections - including Rare Books and Manuscripts Treasures of The Mitchell Sasines, records of property ownership Shipbuilding Archives Glasgow Collection
