'Meet the Collectors'

Join members of the Glasgow Thematic Society for a display evening at The Mitchell Library. Hear enthusiasts speaking about their stamps, view the various themed displays and ask the collectors questions. All welcome.

Introduction to Irish Family History Classes

A Penny Plain and Two pence Coloured
A colourful and seasonal exhibition from the collection of The World Through Wooden Eyes
An introduction to the world of the miniature theatre with its heroes, heroines, clowns and harlequins, rogues and vagabonds. Featuring original drawings, hand coloured prints, tinsel pictures and other rare materials that bring this ever popular subject to life.

To St.George’s Cross underground station.
Train
To Charing Cross train station. On exiting the station turn right, walk through the pedestrian area and down the steps into Bath Street. Turn left and walk across the M8 flyover which takes you to North Street and one of the entrances to The Mitchell. The other entrance is in Granville Street, at the back of the building.
Car
Travelling Westbound on M8, leave at Junction 17 (Charing Cross); travelling Eastbound, leave at Junction 19 (City Centre) and follow signs for Charing Cross or The Mitchell Library. On-street metered car parking is available. The nearest car park is on India Street, close by Charing Cross Station.

You can use the collections of The Mitchell whether or not you live in Glasgow and you don’t need to be a member of Glasgow City Libraries, Information and Learning to do so.
The Mitchell holds paper-based and electronic reference resources on all subjects. Our staff are experienced in information work and they welcome enquiries from everyone who visits or contacts the building.
The Mitchell also houses the archives of Glasgow City Council and its predecessor authorities.
